June 18, 1926 - December 24, 2017

Amiel “Moe” Matthew Bialas, 91 of Taylorville passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017 at 4:44 a.m. at his home in Taylorville surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 18, 1926 in Tovey, Ill. the son of Antoni and Antonia (Kozseba) Bialas. Moe grew up in Tovey and graduated from Kincaid High School. Upon graduation, he joined the U.S. Navy, being stationed in California, a good deal of his time. He was a coal miner for Peabody Mine # 8 and 10. Dad enjoyed fishing, bowling, gaming, growing, canning vegetables and socializing in local establishments. He collected coins and stamps and was an avid Cubs fan. Go Cubbies! He enjoyed boating, football and baseball games. He loved puzzles. While in high school, he played basketball, was on the debate team and the staff of the yearbook.

Surviving are his sons: Bret (Sandie) Bialas of Taylorville, Ill.; Bart and (Martha) Bialas of Taylorville, Ill.; daughter: Sherry (Robert) Cherry of Bird City, Kan., Kathleen Bialas of Taylorville, Ill.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother: Eddie Bialas Taylorville, Ill.; sister: Rose Coadyof Taylorville, Ill.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother: John Bialas and gephew: Dan Bialas.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Sutton Memorial home in Taylorville with funeral service starting at 3:00 p.m. with the honorable Mayor Bruce Barry officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Ill. Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville is assisting the family with arrangements. Sign on-line guest book at
