Ina M. Griffin, 97 of Taylorville passed away on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 11:10 p.m. at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville. She was born on September 19, 1920 in May TWP, Ill. the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Deweese) Durbin. She married Luther Brown on October 11, 1941 in Stonington, Ill. and he preceded her in death on February 20, 1944, she then married Orville Griffin on August 16, 1958 and he also preceded her in death on November 2, 2008. Ina worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid for over 35 years and during that time she was the co-owner of Bills Toasty and she sold Sarah Coventry Jewelry. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she played the organ for over 40 years and was a member of Grace Baptist Church at the time of her death. Ina was also a member of the Taylorville Eastern Star.
Surviving are her son: James (Elaine) Brown of Taylorville, Ill.; grandchildren: Gina (Stan) DeSart of Taylorville, Ill.; Brett Brown of Taylorville, Ill.; Lisa (Joe) Weitekamp of Taylorville, Ill.; great-grandchildren: Lindsay (Jeremy) Manning, Matthew and Megan Myers all of Taylorville, Ill., several nieces, nephews, cousins and her little dog Mia. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and her brothers: Charles Durbin and Bill Durbin.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, Ill. with Funeral Service following the visitation starting at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Taylorville, Ill. with Pastor Gerald McPhillips officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Ill.
