Patrick William Schuyler (Pat) was born on July 27, 1955 in Pana, Ill. and passed away suddenly in his sleep on February 18, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father William and brothers Larry, Tom and Ed Schuyler. He is survived by his devoted wife Cathy Drone Schuyler and loving daughters, Aarika (Matt) Alwan, Meghan (Bryan)Schuyler and Ashley (Travis) Miller and cherished grandchildren Jackson, Olivia, Nathaniel, and Calvin, his beloved mother Margaret Deters Schuyler and siblings Ann, Betsy, Linda, Mary, Phyllis, Alice and Rick and many nieces and nephews.

Pat grew up in Taylorville and lived in the Sangamon area most of his life. While attending high school in Athens, he apprenticed in the family business of fine harness making, and became a master of exquisite artistry. For the last 22 years he was caretaker of Power Farms in Cantrall, a place he loved and regarded as his own. Whether making harness or tending to the grounds, he maintained an outstanding work ethic and took pride in attention to detail.

Pat was loved by all who knew him for his generosity, kindness, humor, and great story telling. He was a history connoisseur who loved music, reading, cooking and his chickens and dog. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, friend and caretaker.

He enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his family, friends and his wife who was his best friend.  He was a skilled craftsman of many trades who brought joy to everyone around him

A memorial gathering will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens on Saturday February 24, 2018 starting at 12:00 p.m. followed by a memorial service from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. with Msgr.
