Sophia V. Rudow, 88, of Taylorville passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 in Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born February 9, 1930 in Benton, Ill., to the late Michael and Annie (Stanewich) Dorchinecz. Sophia married Jack Crist and he preceded her in death. She later married Paul F. Rudow on August 8, 1983. He preceded her in death on May 3, 2006.
Sophia was a member of the Chapel Hill Pentecostal Church in Taylorville. She was a homemaker, raising her boys and later worked part time waitressing. She enjoyed working puzzles, playing games and doing crosswords. Being raised by parents strong in their heritage and accomplished cooks, Sophia learned to cook at an early age and enjoyed doing so throughout her life.
Sophia is survived by her sons, John T. (Toni) Crist III of Taylorville, Ill., Jim (Jo Beth) Crist of Dunlap, Ill., Allen (Tammy) Crist of Taylorville, Ill., stepchildren: Fritz (Trudy) Rudow of Gering, Neb., Jim Rudow of Gladstone, Mo., Patty Grissom of Pana, Ill., nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; 14 step great-grandchildren; and brother, Ernie (Janet) Dorchinecz of Taylorville, Ill. Along with her parents and husbands, Jack and Paul, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Michael Dorchinecz and Martha Aden.
Funeral services for Sophia will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John T. Crist III officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana, Ill. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
