TUSCOLA — The Panther girls golf team combined for a round of 455 to place them in third at the Tuscola regional on Wednesday, which allows them to advance as a team to the sectional round. Charleston won the regional with a 393, Tuscola finished second with a 436, and trailing the Panthers were Sullivan with a 457 and St. Teresa with a 510.

FILLMORE — The South Central Conference boys golfers  had their conference tournament on Monday at the Indian Springs Golf Course. The Pana Panthers finished ninth overall with a score of 442; Hillsboro won the tournament with a score of 303, then it was Litchfield with a 340, Vandalia with a 350, Roxana with a 360, Staunton with a 363, Greenville with a 378, Piasa Southwestern with a 386, and Carlinville with a 414.

TAYLORVILLE — The Route 29 rivalry continued as the Panthers defeated the Tornadoes 5-4 in their soccer game Thursday. The plaque now resides in Pana once more, but it certainly wansn’t an easy win for the Panthers despite a 4-0 lead at the half.

STAUNTON — The Panther boys golf team would finish just two strokes behind Carlinville in their quad match Tuesday against Staunton, Mt. Olive and Carlinville. Staunton would win the match with a final score of 178, Mt. Olive would come in second with a 212, with Carlinville finishing third with a 228 and Pana finishing fourth with a 230.

Lady Panthers to build on success of last season
PANA — To say that Panther volleyball has been successful the past few seasons would be a huge understatement: in the 2015-2016 campaign, the Panthers put together a 25-13 record with a regional title which was brought to an end by Newton in the first game of Sectionals, the 2016-2017 campaign was even better, finishing with a 26-11 record, a conference championship, and a regional title, but was once again stopped short by a loss to Newton in the first game of the Sectional tournament.
