PANA — “We faced the same pitcher last year in a 4-3 game and he struck us out 17 times,” said Pana Coach Greg Cothern after his team’s 12-1 opening-day victory over the Beecher City/Cowden Herrik Eagles which featured 14 hits. “For us to turn around and hit the ball well, that was nice to see. I felt that Webber Jacobs hit the ball well even though they didn’t all fall for him. Jake McLeod did a really good job hitting the ball and had an excellent day running the bases. Brock DeWerff had a nice hit, which he turned into a triple, Kody Bland came up with a couple of big hits, and I think Rhett was 3-4. It was just a good day for us all the way through the lineup.”
