PANA —It was a seven-nothing run for the Lady Panthers to start the second quarter Saturday against Clinton that sparked the momentum swing which ultimately led to a 55-39 victory for Pana.

PANA - After a little bit of a slow start, Jared Beyers went off for eight points in the second quarter, and then the Panthers rattled off six straight points against Roxana to start the second half as both Beyers and Jacob Beeson were playing well in transition.

HILLSBORO — The Panthers trailed the whole way, but were able to only be down 37-35 at half and 56-54 after the third. Despite the fact, the Hilltoppers had a 19-9 fourth quarter and ended up getting the eventual 75-63 victory.

PANA — The Panthers took a 36-27 lead heading into the fourth quarter. With a lead like that, the Panthers were cementing their victory, they hadn’t lost a game all year where they led going into the fourth. But tonight was different, the Cavaliers went on a 15-4 run in the fourth quarter that felled the Panthers 42-40.

Newton brings Pana VB season to a close at sectionals
ROBINSON — After winning set one 25-10, the Panthers looked to be in prime position to move on to Wednesday’s Sectional title game against Kansas. Newton fought back to win set two 25-20. Set three was primed to be classic. Newton jumped out to an early 14-10 lead, but Pana continued to fight and brought it to 19-18. The Panthers just couldn’t get over the Eagles and Newton would take set three 25-20. This was the third meeting in three years these two teams faced off in the Sectional semi-finals, Newton took all three in three sets.

Honestly, this is the first group that I have actually had to say no on practice times to. The Pana Panthers finished ninth overall with a score of 442; Hillsboro won the tournament with a score of 303, then it was Litchfield with a 340, Vandalia with a 350, Roxana with a 360, Staunton with a 363, Greenville with a 378, Piasa Southwestern with a 386, and Carlinville with a 414.
