KINCAID — Despite losing quite a few girls for various reasons, head coach Vincent Pop is still looking to the core that he will return to be the cornerstone for his program this year.

ALTON — The South Fork Ponies made another long trip for a second week in a row, traveling to Alton to face off against Marquette. The Explorers defeated the 42-0, despite not amounting a score in the fourth quarter.

Ponies get crucial 5th win over Madison
Madison — “I don’t really look at the playoffs too much, I kind of let my staff handle that side of things… It would mean a lot, though, to not only these kids, to this community. This program has a huge following, I think we may have even had more fans out here today than Madison did,” said head coach Tim Chapman after his 20-6 victory over the Madison Trojans.

Oilers outpace Ponies in Thursday night contest

KINCAID — A varsity high school football game on a Thursday doesn’t happen too often, but it did on October 5 in Kincaid as the South Fork Ponies faced off against the Oilers of East Alton Wood River (EAWR). It was senior night for the Ponies as two cheerleaders and eight football players were honored before the game.

KINCAID — On what appeared to be a night for the Ponies after coming out hard and fast on defense, they would ultimately fall just short as Bunker Hill would win 24-16.

South Fork Ponies JV defeats Pawnee 14-0
KINCAID — South Fork doesn’t get the opportunity to play a JV football game very often, but when they do, the boys go all out. As luck would have it though, they only got to play one 10 minute quarter due to weather and even that was interrupted by lightening.

PAWNEE — When the score at the conclusion of the first half is 6-6, it’s obviously a defensive centered game; until one team adjusts and goes off for 40 points in the second half, 32 of those coming in the fourth quarter.

KINCAID — The South Fork Ponies opened the 2017 varsity football season with a dominant performance on Friday, when they dismantled the Sullivan Redskins 42-0 to earn their first Week 1 win in six seasons.
