Area 3-point shooters advance to state
CHRISTIAN COUNTY — Madison Ashcraft of Pana and Katy Carter of South Fork both advanced to state this week at their respective sectionals in the three-point shooting contest.

South Fork season ends against Tri-County
NOKOMIS — The South Fork Ponies ran into the top-seeded Tri-County Raiders on Wednesday. The Ponies were hopeful to carry their momentum they picked up from the win over Cerro Gordo, but Tri-County’s defense was tough amd forced the Ponies to turn the ball over more often than they are used, causing South Fork to come up short in the 81-36 loss.

KINCAID — Once all of the celebrating and tears were over with after honoring their seniors on Tuesday, the Ponies still had a game to play against Calvary. Despite their slow start, it was a 30-point second quarter which saw them come away with the 72-64 victory on Tuesday.

KINCAID — After dropping Tuesday’s game to Mt. Pulaski, the Ponies were looking to get back into form Thursday against the Illinois School for the Deaf. Despite the other team showing up at 6:30 when the game was supposed to start at 6:00, the Ponies were still ready as they were victorious 65-26.

VIRDEN — It was senior night for North Mac when the South Fork Ponies came to town Wednesday night. It was those seniors from North Mac that gave them the lead early, but the Ponies were able to bounce back in the second half and come away with the 50-39 victory.

Two junior high Ponies compete in all-star game
ASHLAND — Two junior high Ponies competed on Saturday in the all-star game for all-area teams in Ashland. Gianna Pop (left) and Mia Pop (right) both played in the game but also competed in aditional contests as well. Giana was in the 3-point contest and finished in third place, and Mia won first place in the free-throw shooting contest.

NEW BERLIN — The Lincolnwood Lancers played their first game of the new basketball season on Monday against West Central. Despite winning the second half 24-22, the first half undid their hopes of opening with a win and would fall 57-46.
