Panthers stay alive in playoff hunt

Pana survived a week eight battle with Vandalia 34-28 to set up another South Central Conference showdown in week nine against the Hilltoppers.

Ponies push through mud for much needed win
The South Fork Ponies were able to push through the mud for a 12-0 win over Mt. Olive to keep their playoff hopes alive. Taylorville lost at Effingham for their first defeat of the year. The Pana Panthers tried to hang with undefeated Greenville, but their passing attack was too much and the Panthers fell 55-21. Finally, the Central A&M Raiders went on the road to Warrensburg-Latham and could not get their offense going, suffering a 27-7 loss.

The Edinburg Wildcats started the 28th annual Lady Mohawk volleyball tournament strong on Wednesday night, picking up a 2-1 record in the Red Pool play.

 The Meridian Hawks came into Edinburg and walked away with a two set win over the Wildcats 25-14, 25-14 on Monday night.

Maggie Comerford and Chelsea Getz led the way for the Hawks.

Pawnee pounds Ponies in 'War of 104'

Two weeks without a game proved to be a problem for the South Fork Ponies on Friday night.

Pawnee came into Kincaid and ruined their homecoming in the “War of Highway 104”, handing the Ponies a 38-0 loss.

Ponies get two weeks to prepare for Pawnee

The football game scheduled between the South Fork Ponies and the Metro-East Lutheran Knights has been called off.

The Ponies will get their first win of the year, a 1-0 decision as the Knights have decided to forfeit the game.

Ponies put up a fight against Marquette

The South Fork Ponies scored first and had the conference’s top team on the ropes Friday night.

Marquette Catholic out of Alton returned home a 27-21 winner, but South Fork head coach Tim Chapman says the Ponies may be turning a corner with the progress showed Friday night.

Pawnee takes two from Edinburg

The Pawnee Indians welcomed the Edinburg Wildcats with a 25-10, 25-13 win on Monday night.

Edinburg was led by Lexy Broccardo’s four digs and one assist, while Alexandria Powell had four blocks and Samantha Sabo had two.
