Flashes finish off Wildcats at Waverly

The Edinburg Wildcats made their run in the second half but it was too little, too late.

Franklin ended Edinburg’s season on Monday night in the IHSA Class 1A Waverly regional with a 53-47 victory.

Area basketball from Friday night included the Mohawks continuing their winning streak, Edinburg picking up a conference road win and the Ponies’ senior night getting spoiled by Nokomis.

Defensively, Edinburg head coach Doug Bowsher was pleased with his teams’ performance.

They held Franklin to just 45 points, led by 13 points each from Paul Morris and Justin Gill.

Cade Puzey put up 32 points for the Pawnee Indians and Austin Galloway added 20.

The Pawnee Indians took care of Edinburg on Tuesday night 65-53 for their eighth MSM win of the season.

 The Pawnee Indians and the South Fork Lady Ponies traveled to Moweaqua on Monday night for the first round of the IHSA Class 1A regional.

Pawnee ended South Fork’s season with a 40-23 victory.

The South Fork Lady Ponies made a big push in the fourth quarter scoring 20 points against Ramsey on Thursday night.

The Rams were able to hold on for a 58-49 win over South Fork on their senior night.

Unfortunately it was too little too late as the Lincolnwood Lancers picked up a road MSM win with a 69-59 victory.

The Morrisonville Mohawks picked up a win over Edinburg on their Homecoming night Friday with a 62-57 victory.

Dakota Schmeiderer scored 22 points for Illini Central and Bailey Paskaelt added 14.

The Edinburg Wildcats had a good reason to celebrate their homecoming on Friday night as they picked up a MSM conference win.

Edinburg beat Waverly 55-38 behind 18 points from Jacob Powell and 14 from Garrett Stephens.

The South Fork Ponies picked up a road win on Thursday night over Jacksonville ISD 38-34 in overtime.

Rachel Monts scored 11 points and Kary Carter and Emily Sims each added ten points.

The Edinburg Wildcats weren’t used to the Ramsey rims and it certainly affected their shots.

Edinburg had a poor shooting night on Tuesday and fell to Ramsey 50-35 on the road.
