Illinois High School Shrine game set for June 16, 2018 
The Illinois Coaches Association and the Shriners of Illinois will host the 44th annual Illinois High School Shrine Game on June 16th at Tucci Stadium on the campus of Illinois Wesleyan University. Kick-off for the 44th annual game is scheduled for Saturday, June 16th at 1:00p.m.  The pregame festivities will begin with a fun Walk for LOVE event held at the stadium starting at 9am.  Eighty-eight of the state’s best football players participate in this all-star game to raise money for Shriners Hospital for Children, the official philanthropy of Shriners International. Christian County Youth Volleyball plays well in Raymond
The Christian County Youth Volleyball took three fourth-grade teams to the tournament held in Raymond this past weekend. Stonington 2 was undefeated and won the tournament, Nokomis finished in third place, and Stonington 1 placed fifth.

Lake Land College Faculty annual scholarship softball game
Each spring at Lake Land College, faculty and students square off to raise money for scholarships. This year, the annual Faculty vs. Student Softball Game raised nearly $1,800. During the event’s 16-year-history, more than $22,000 has been raised.

Professor to discuss base ball mania in the late 1800s
Imagine a baseball field with a stream running through the outfield, a literal water hazard for ballplayers or a large crowd watching a game near the junction of Decatur’s two busiest railroads. If you can’t, Millikin University’s Dr. Bob Sampson of the Department of History and Political Science will explain this and more, including why the game was spelled as two words when he makes a presentation on baseball at the Macon County History Museum on Sat., April 21 at 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

SPRINGFIELD — The CCYMCA Predators swam in the Illini District Championship meet in Springfield on February 23 and 24. Kade Guhlstorf and Lily Osborn will both be competing in the state championship in St. Johns, Indiana over the weekend of March 9; Guhlstorf in five individual events and Osborn in three individual events.

Center Pointe Dance Academy gets four trophies
The Center Pointe Dance Academy’s competition team was in action on Saturday at the Tremaine Dance Competition.

They brought back three second place trophies and a third place trophy at the close of competition. LilliElla Vail won a full scholarship to the Tremaine Convention.
