Taylorville native reaches 400 win plateau as Head Coach of AU men
AURORA — Taylorville native James Lancaster picked up his 400th career win, on Saturday, as his Aurora Spartans took down Edgewood College 103-90. Lancaster has been with the Spartans since the 1994-95 season, and has compiled an overall record of 400-185.

AURORA — Aurora University Spartan men's basketball coach James Lancaster, formerly of Taylorville, earned his 400th career victory in the Spartans' 103-90 win over Edgewood College on Saturday afternoon. With a plethora of friends, family and alumni in attendance to see his victory as well as take part in the second annual MS Day events, the Spartans did not disappoint the near capacity crowd.

CCYMCA Predators compete at Clinton
CLINTON — Nine Christian County YMCA Predators traveled to Clinton, IL on Saturday January 23, 2016 to compete in Tri-meet at the Clinton Family YMCA.  The Predators competed against the Decatur Gators and the Clinton Otters.

WAVERLY — The Lincolnwood Lancers made it to the championship gave of the historic Waverly Tournament, on Wednesday, but had to do so without senior standout Bryan Graham, who had sustained an injury in Tuesday night’s win.

LINCOLN — The Lincoln Board of Education voted, on Monday, to leave the Central State Eight conference, and to join Taylorville, Effingham, Charleston, Mattoon, Mt. Zion, Salem, and future newcomer Mahomet-Seymour, in the Apollo Conference.

Jerry Smith named PGA Tour Champions Rookie of the Year
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Jerry Smith, who resides in Scottsdale, Ariz., finished his first full season on the  PGA Tour Champions by earning Rookie of the Year honors. Smith’s competition in the rookie category was Miguel Angel Jimenez and the esteemed honor is voted on by the players.
