TAYLORVILLE — Thomas Snyder (74) beats a double team and gets to Rantoul quarterback Anthony Parker (9) to disrupt a throw that that David Gideon intercepted in the second quarter. Taylorville’s starting defense gave up (-5) yards in the first half.

Taylorville scored 28 points in the first quarter, including two rushing touchdowns from quarterback Tanner Champley, on their way to 62-14 romping of Rantoul.

The Tornadoes and Panthers played volleyball against each other, as they do every year, but this year the student sections made it a little more rambunctious.

The Taylorville Tornadoes lost a road match 6-1 to St. Teresa on Wednesday night.

Blake Harbour scored Taylorville’s only goal, while Tornado keeper Tyler Roth made nine saves.

Tickets still on sale for breakfast

Tornado athletes are still selling tickets for the 2nd annual THS Homecoming pancake and sausage breakfast.

The Homecoming breakfast will be held next Saturday morning from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the Taylorville Moose Lodge.

The Taylorville Tornadoes JV football team held onto a lead late and relied on their defense Monday night.

The Tornadoes defeated Clinton’s JV team 28-22.

Tornadoes trounce Trojans

Led by a great round from Eric Dust, the Taylorville Tornadoes defended their home golf course on Monday night.

Dust shot a 40 at Lakeshore and the Taylorville golf team trounced the Charleston Trojans 181 to 210 for an easy win.

Tornadoes win consolation bracket at Mattoon Invite

The Taylorville Lady Tornadoes earned their first victory of the season and then went on to win the consolation bracket at the Mattoon volleyball Invitational this weekend.

Taylorville defeated Sullivan, Neoga and St. Elmo, while losing to Warrensburg-Lathem and Mattoon.

The Tornadoes went into Rochester on Saturday and won the Rochester Invitational for the second straight year, beating the Rockets by three points this time.

Lawrence Curtin was the top runner for Taylorville, finishing in third place.
