County Fair Hosts ITPA Truck and Tractor Pull
TAYLORVILLE — True horsepower was put to the test on Thursday night at the 2015 Christian County Agricultural Fair as the grandstand hosted the ITPA Truck & Tractor Pulls.

Several dozen drivers competed in classes ranging from Classics to 9500 lb. Limited Pro Stock. From Christian County, Curt Micenheimer (2nd) and Lane Bollinger (4th) both placed in the top five in the 5800 lb. Modified division.

Taylorville School District registration: Online registration starts Friday for most students
TAYLORVILLE — Taylorville Community Unit Schools has announced the details for the 2015-16 school registration.

Families of returning students may begin the online registration process on July 24.  The primary guardian should log in to the district’s Skyward Family Access page at www.taylorvilleschools.com. Parents or guardians needing a log-in ID and password may call their school to obtain this information. Parents without computers may go to the school’s computer lab during registration hours to complete the process. Assistance will be available for those with no computer experience. There will be no paper registration for returning students.

Pana CUSD to auction Tower Hill property
PANA — The Pana CUSD has agreed to sell their Tower Hill Property in a public auction on Saturday, September 12, 2015.  The auction will be handled by the Price/Spracklen Auction Group with minimum bids being set at $5,000.00 for building properties located on Benton Street and $500.00 for a vacant lot on Michigan Street. Both parcels will be auctioned separately. It’s reported that the Village of Tower Hill has stated they would like to keep the remaining playground equipment. It was also agreed that two stair lifts currently in the 6th grade building will remain in that building.

TAYLORVILLE — In keeping up with the great tradition of the Christian County Fair, the annual livestock competitions and agriculturally inspired events serve as a reminder of the more humble beginnings of county fairs. The Christian County fair, in fact, originated in 1924 as an outgrowth of a small livestock show that had been held in Manners Park for the two years prior. In celebration of that heritage, the ag events are still a very prominent part of the fair today.

Decatur Mayor Mike McElroy dies this morning of heart attack
DECATUR, Ill. (AP) — Macon County Coroner Michael Day says Decatur Mayor Mike McElroy has died.

Day said McElroy died this morning. The coroner says an ambulance brought McElroy to St. Mary’s Hospital in cardiac arrest. He says emergency room physicians pronounced McElroy dead and he died of natural causes. Further details were not immediately available.

Morrisonville board concludes summer agenda
MORRISONVILLE — The Morrisonville School Board met in a brief meeting on Thursday to finalize some lingering administrative issues prior to the start of school next month.

The junior and senior high school schedules were, perhaps, the most significant issues addressed on the agenda. Superintendent Gary Depatis suggested that the presented schedule had been approved by both principals, though there was still some discussion about potential revisions.
