THS grad Ninmer performs in Oscar-nominated movie

TAYLORVILLE — Since graduating from Taylorville High School in 2008, Drew Ninmer, the trumpet-playing son of longtime Taylorville music educators Ron and Jean Ninmer, has earned two degrees in music, spent a summer as a member of Disneyland’s All-American College Band, performed and recorded with numerous groups and artists in the Los Angeles area where he now lives, and “just in the last few months,” he says, “played in a jazz quartet for a wedding, musical theatre pit orchestra work, played in a brass ensemble, a symphony orchestra, numerous big bands, for church services, a high school madrigal feast, and many other random opportunities.”

Police release artist rendering of suspect in KFC robbery
TAYLORVILLE -  The Taylorville Police Department is seeking assistance from the public in attempting to identify the suspect involved in a robbery at Kentucky Fried Chicken on North Webster St. in Taylorville which occurred January 12th.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20’s, approximately 6’ tall and weighing around 170 pounds. The suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a white insignia on the right upper chest area and dark blue jeans.

Rural Repairs
TAYLORVILLE — Drain tile repairs continue on 1400 East Road north of town between 1600-1700 North Road. Taylorville Street and Sewer Superintendent Dick Wiseman said work should be completed today and the road opened to traffic this afternoon. The road has been closed since work began on Monday and was expected to take up to a week to complete.

Squad 1 Activated
TAYLORVILLE - The Taylorville Fire Department’s newest squad, a  2006 Ford F-450 four-door unit, was activated last week following its purchase by the Taylorville Fire Protection District. The vehicle will replace an aged, two-door brush truck and will be used on the vast majority of TFD deployments. According to Fire Chief Mike Crews and Assistant Fire Chief Andy Goodall, the squad will help the department to save on fuel and maintenance costs, as it will be deployed in place of larger trucks when the TFD assists on medical calls.

Motor vehicle accident claims one in Taylorville
A motor vehicle accident last evening at approximately 7:40 p.m. has claimed the life of a 45-year-old Taylorville man.

Illinois State Police say that the driver of a black 2000 Chevrolet truck was traveling westbound on Rt. 48, just west of Nokomis Blacktop, when for unknown reasons the vehicle traveled off the left (south) side of the roadway, struck a tree and burst into flames.

Daniel Corbin of Taylorville was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Christian County Coroner's Office.

An autopsy will be held in Bloomington later today.

A spokesperson from Rosenthal’s office said today that an official announcement could come as early as Friday.
