Lake Villa, IL — A Lake Villa gas station sold a winning Powerball ticket for last night’s drawing, meaning someone in the area is going to be $1 million richer.
The winner, who has yet to come forward, purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Lake Villa Citgo, 400 East Grand Avenue, and matched the first five numbers – 05 - 27 - 36 - 38 – 41 – (12) - in the Wednesday February 6 drawing.
This marks the 20th $1million Powerball winner in Illinois since last February. The Lake Villa Citgo will receive a $10,000 bonus, 1 percent of the jackpot amount, for selling a winning ticket.
The Powerball drawing takes place Wednesday and Saturday nights at 9:59 p.m. The estimated jackpot for this Saturday is $40 million. For more information, please visit www.illinoislottery.com.
According to lottery officials, the Illinois Lottery, founded in 1974, has contributed over $17.5 billion to the state Common School Fund to assist K-12 public schools, as well as the Capital Projects Fund. Players must be at least 18 years old.
