SPRINGFIELD — The Lincoln Land Community College Philip and Mary Kathryn Trutter Museum is holding the second session of its 1st Thursday Speakers Series on Thursday, April 4. “Around the World in 90 Minutes, Part II” is being held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Trutter Center at LLCC-Springfield, 5250 Shepherd Road.
The 1st Thursday Speakers Series features local experts discussing various topics that explore cultural diversity and current issues. Speakers for the April 4 session will discuss their favorite world locations through interesting PowerPoint presentations. Topics and featured speakers include: “French Heritage Archaeological Sites in the Midwest” by Terrance J. Martin, Ph.D., curator/chair of anthropology, lllinois State Museum; “Springfield’s Sister Cities: Ashikaga, Japan and San Pedro, Mexico—An Update” by Carol Zerkle and Mick Bernasek, Sister Cities Association board members; and “Kenya: An African Country and My Homeland” by Peter Embalabala, LLCC professor of mathematics.
