4/13/2013 2:46:00 PM State worker fired due to explicit photos
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — A state employee was fired after an investigation found that he had taken sexually explicit photos and a video of himself at work and emailed inappropriate images, according to a state report released Friday.
The Illinois Executive Ethics Commission report indicates that the Illinois Department on Aging fired John Hastings in December. Hastings was responsible for authoring computer code and inputting data for agency programs.
Acting on an anonymous tip, investigators examined Hastings’ state computer and found 225 pornographic images on it, including 13 explicit photos and a video of a man later identified as Hastings, according to the report.
The heavily redacted report indicates Hastings took at least some of the photos at work and sent an inappropriate image to a female co-worker. The report said Hastings acknowledged the wrongdoing.
Hastings provided investigators with a statement which read, in part, “At heart, I’m a good worker but tend to get side-tracked easily.”
A contact number could not be located for Hastings on Friday.
