8/16/2013 11:56:00 AM Graduation ceremony at U of I to move outdoors
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Assembly Hall is under construction so that means for the first time in decades commencement will be outdoors at the University of Illinois.
Graduates will have one campus-wide commencement ceremony on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The event is usually held at Assembly Hall, now known as the State Farm Center. University special events director Laura Wilhelm-Barr says the facility will be in “full construction mode” so commencement had to be moved.
University officials say the ceremony will be outdoors unless weather conditions become dangerous.
