CENTRALIA, Ill. (AP) — A court hearing on the closing of a developmental center in Centralia has been postponed from Tuesday until Nov. 4.
U.S. District Judge Marvin Aspen on Thursday delayed the hearing on the Murray Developmental Center run by the Illinois Department of Human Services.The judge said parties “continue to file pretrial motions that require the court’s attention.”
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has said closing Murray Developmental Center in Centralia and other institutions is the right thing to do and will save the state money. Parents of some Murray residents have expressed concern residents won’t get the care they need in a new setting.
