QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — A new law in Illinois makes it illegal for child sex offenders to participate in Halloween activities.
The new law means child sex offenders can’t distribute candy or other items on Thursday. It’s the same law that bans child sex offenders from working as Santa Claus or the Easter bunny during the Christmas and Easter seasons.
Quincy Police Sgt. Jeff Grott says the new law helps give parents peace of mind. Part of Grott’s job is to monitor sex offenders who live in the western Illinois city.
