SCHILLER PARK, Ill. (AP) — An exhibit of drawings of fallen Illinois soldiers will be on display at Illinois Tollway Oases through July 4.
Gov. Pat Quinn unveiled the “Portrait of a Soldier” exhibit Saturday at the O’Hare Oasis. It’s a series of drawings of nearly all the more than 300 Illinois men and women who died while serving the country since 9/11.
Artist Cameron Schilling of Mattoon has drawn all the portraits. He began drawing them in August 2004.
The exhibit is on display at the O’Hare Oasis until June 1. It then will travel to the Hinsdale Oasis, where it will be displayed through June 8. The exhibit will be on display at the Chicago Southland Lincoln, DeKalb, Belvidere and Lake Forest oases through the July 4 weekend.
