SPRINGFIELD — Kids ages 8 to 10 are invited to the Illinois State Museum in Springfield on Saturday, July 22 for a ‘Kids Create!’ workshop in which they’ll create pinball machines from recycled and found materials.
Pinball machines are a wonderful mix of engineering and art. During this fun and creative workshop, participants will create pinball machines and original art for their pinball machines – drawing inspiration from the Kings & Queens: Pinball, Imagists and Chicago exhibition at the Museum. In the process, kids will learn how the artists in the exhibition executed their works of art. They will also have time to explore the Kings & Queens exhibition and to play pinball. All materials and a light snack will be provided.
The ‘Kids Create!’ workshop is from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on July 22, and the registration deadline is July 19. The registration cost is $15 per child for Illinois State Museum Society members and $20 per child for non-members.
