SPRINGFIELD — The Animal Protective League (APL) will hold dog and cat adoptions at a variety of local businesses this weekend. On Saturday, January 13, adoptable cats will be available from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. and adoptable dogs will be available from noon until 3 p.m. at PetSmart, 3183 S Veterans Parkway, Springfield.
Additionally on Saturday, dogs and cats will both be available for adoption in APL’s Mobile Pet Adoption Center from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Petco, 2721 S. Veterans Parkway, Springfield. This 30-foot-long unit can safely transport up to twenty-five of our cats and dogs in a heated trailer specially outfitted with comfortable, sturdy cages and a meet-and-greet room where animals can interact one-on-one with potential adopters. This is a wonderful way for the public to meet our animals and is a vital tool in helping APL place our animals into loving homes!
On Sunday, January 14, adoptable cats will be available from noon until 4 p.m. and adoptable dogs will be available from noon until 3 p.m. at PetSmart. Dogs and cats are also available at the shelter, located at 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, seven days a week from noon until 5 p.m.
APL is a non-profit organization committed to caring for sick, injured, abused and abandoned dogs and cats and finding the best possible permanent homes for them. In addition to regular pet adoptions, the organization coordinates cruelty investigations and humane education programs and operates a low cost spay/neuter clinic adjacent to its Springfield shelter. All animals adopted out have been spayed or neutered, received all age appropriate vaccination, and have been microchipped.
