TAYLORVILLE — The attempted murder trial of Larry Scott, 35, of Springfield will not be starting as scheduled on May 21. Instead, the jury trial has been reset for June 18, 2018, in Christian County Court.
Sometime between Tuesday, May 2, 2018 and Wednesday May 3, 2018, person or persons unknown took a cooler from inside the Christian County Seniors Center. The cooler contained 3 bottles of oil and a Ruger 380 handgun with a loaded magazine. The cooler was sitting on a countertop during the time of the incident. A case which has worked its way through Christian County Circuit Court for a little more than four years ended on Friday afternoon with the sentencing of Dotty M. Eppenger, 31, of Taylorville, to eight years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Christian County Resident Fourth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Brad Paisley. Eppenger was charged with residential burglary and aggravated battery of a peace office in April of 2014. She was accused of breaking into the home of Henry and Linnad Buesinger. Following a two-hour-and-15-minute hearing in Christian County Court Tuesday afternoon, Markes N. Rodgers, 51, who pled guilty to a charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm, a Class X Felony, was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Fourth Circuit Court Christian County Resident Judge Brad Paisley.
