We placed all the ornaments on the tree, which always brings back memories of Christmas past. And we left the rest of the decorations to do the next day.

TAYLORVILLE — The Illinois Historical Society honors churches that have served their congregations for 150 years or more.

Recently, the society hosted its third Sesquicentennial Houses of Worship awards luncheon at the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria. The congregations recognized represented many denominations and all were proud to celebrate their history. When the guests assembled for a group photo, they spontaneously began singing “Amazing Grace,” commonly familiar to all.
