Area churches recognized at Sesquicentennial Houses of Worship ceremony
TAYLORVILLE — The Illinois Historical Society honors churches that have served their congregations for 150 years or more.

Recently, the society hosted its third Sesquicentennial Houses of Worship awards luncheon at the United Presbyterian Church of Peoria. The congregations recognized represented many denominations and all were proud to celebrate their history. When the guests assembled for a group photo, they spontaneously began singing “Amazing Grace,” commonly familiar to all.
