Jan E. Bulthaus, 68, died at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012, at her residence in Springfield.
Jan was born October 18, 1944 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Loren K. and Alice M. Siegfried Robinson of Macomb, IL.
Jan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Western Illinois University, and in 1976, after several years of teaching, she also received her real estate license. She later became a well-known and successful broker who also served on the Board of Directors for the Capital Area Association of Realtors. Jan earned the Certified Residential Specialist Award and was also a member of the Graduate Realtor’s Institute. She served on the board of the State Farm Classic for several years, as well as on various related tournament committees. She was active with the Rail Ladies Golf Club, the Panther Creek Ladies Golf Club, and the Eaglewood Ladies Golf Association in Florida. An avid golfer, Jan played in the State Farm Classic Pro-Am several times. She enjoyed traveling, taking care of her home and flower garden, and being a devoted grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her partner, Jane Rishel.
She is survived by her partner, Anita Obler of Wilmington, NC; two daughters, Jennifer Powers (husband, Rob) of Springfield and Stephanie Maloy of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Adam and Emily Powers; one brother, Jon E. Robinson (companion, Judy Bond) of Taylorville; one nephew, Jeffrie E. Robinson (companion, Mindy Best) of Taylorville; one uncle, Richard Biery of Carthage; and several cousins, including Jacque Anderson.
Cremation was accorded by Butler Cremation Tribute Center prior to ceremonies.
The family will be hosting a Memorial Gathering from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 29, 2012 and a Memorial Ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 30, 2012, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2477 W. Washington with Pastor Greg Busboom officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the ceremony. The family of Jan E.
