Mary Martha Doyle, 91, of Decatur, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born December 8, 1921 in Millersville, IL, a daughter of John Edward and Mary Letha (Russell) O’Brien. A member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Mary worked in the Ammo Depot in Illiopolis during WWII and then at Houdaille-Hershey. She married Bernard “Bernie” Doyle on June 5, 1945 in Speedway, IN, and he preceded her in death on April 3, 1999.
She is survived by her children, Gemma Burke of Taylorville, Terry Doyle of Decatur, Mark Doyle of Decatur, Elizabeth (Sherman) Cassidy of Bloomington, and Edward Doyle of Decatur; grandchildren: Michael (Aymie) Clayton, Molly Clayton, Monica (Mark) Schriner, Rita Burke, Kelly (Aaron Rickel) Doyle, Conor Doyle, Irene Cassidy, Amelia Cassidy, Lydia Cassidy, Bryson Doyle and Braden Doyle; great-grandchildren: Mackenna Clayton, Billy Clayton, Jacob Schriner, Michael Schriner, and Kahlan Rickel; sister, Letha “Pete” Ransdell of Decatur; sisters-in-law: Norma Doyle and Myrtel O’Brien; good friend, Sharon Miller Hutchins; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, son, Roger; brothers, Edward, Francis “Doc”, James, Thomas, Patrick, William, and Joseph; sisters, Thelena, Rita, and Sister Venard (Rosalie) O.S.F.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 3 to 6 p.m. in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church; vigil prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial celebrating her life will be 11 a.m., Monday, December 17, 2012 in St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Rev. Richard Weltin, Rev. Don Wolford, Deacon Kevin Richardson and nephew, Deacon John O’Brien officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Assumption.
