Ruby M. Matthews

Sept. 13, 1923 - Sept. 6, 2006 Ruby Monroe Matthews, 82, of Taylorville died at 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in Danville V.A. Health Care Facility.

He was born September 13, 1923, in Taylorville, the son of Ruby and Veda Huddleston Matthews. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Aircorp. He retired from Pittsburg Plate Glass in Mt. Zion and Wareham's Dairy in Taylorville.

Surviving are his son, Chris (wife Sheila) Matthews of Taylorville; daughters: Toni (husband Dick) Grundy of Truckee, CA, Jean (husband John) Walker of Clarksdale, and Tanya (husband Randy) Reno of Taylorville; ten grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rebecca Lou Matthews; and grandsons, Jeffrey Grundy and infant twins, Scott and Steven Grundy.

Graveside rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 19, in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, with Reverend Dick Wamsley officiating. Sutton Memorial Home, Taylorville, is in charge of arrangements.

There will be no visitation.

Eleanor C. Krask

Eleanor Curtin Krask, of Pittsburg, KS, formerly of Taylorville, died Monday, September 4, 2006, at Cornerstone Village Nursing Facility in Pittsburg, KS.

She was born in 1918, in Taylorville, the daughter of Frank and Margaret Curtin. She attended the University of Illinois and received a bachelor's degree from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and a master's degree in art from Northern Colorado University in Greeley. She continued post-graduate studies at Rutgers University and took additional course work in watercolor in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. Eleanor began her teaching career in a small rural elementary school in central Illinois, and held a variety of teaching responsibilities in Illinois and Colorado elementary and high schools before taking up the position in Evanston, IL, a job she held fro 24 years. After retiring from teaching, she continued to work for the Evanston School District for two years and was active in a number of national and local service organizations providing food tray decorations for hospitals, table center pieces, and other artistic displays for organizations. Mrs. Krask moved to Pittsburg, KS in 2001 where she lived at Vintage Place before moving to Cornerstone Village Nursing Facility.

Surviving are her daughter, Marjorie K. Schick of Pittsburg, KS; grandson, Robert M. Schick of Placentia, CA; sister, Marjorie Klein of Elburn, IL; and nephew, Bill Youmans, of Chicago.

Memorial services were held today, Thursday, September 7, at Cornerstone Village Chapel with Sister Ann Meyer officiating. Inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, at a later date. An additional memorial service will be held in Skokie, IL, at a later date. Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, Pittsburg, KS, is in charge of arrangements.

Hilda E. Ramsey Memorial services for Hilda Ellen Ramsey, 87, of Taylorville will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2006, in Shafer Funeral Home, with Rev. Bob Spurgin officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Illiopolis.

Mrs. Ramsey died Friday, August 25, in Banner Gardens Hospice House, Mesa, AZ.

Hazel I. Stuart Funeral services for Hazel I. Stuart, 87, of Taylorville were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 7, 2006, in Shafer Funeral Home, with Rev. Steve Disney officiating. Burial was in Macon County Memorial Park, Harristown.

Pallbearers were Peggy Miller, Jerit Murphy, Suzanne Reece, Chris Jenkins, and Aaron Weldy.

Ms. Stuart died at 9:21 p.m. Saturday, September 2, in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.

Herbert W. Schroyer Funeral services for Herbert W. Schroyer, 79, of Taylorville were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2006, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Taylorville, with Father Alan Hunter officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Christopher Schroyer, Curtis Schroyer, Matthew Schroyer, Roger Schroyer, Robert Schroyer, and David Hill.

Mr. Schroyer died at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, August 31, in Memorial Medical Center.

Jarrod D. Dively Funeral services for Jarrod David "J.D." Dively, 21, of Taylorville were held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, in McClure Funeral Home, with Rev. Linda Vonck officiating. Burial was in Glenhaven Memorial Gardens, Taylorville.

Pallbearers were Chris Wade, O.J. Kohl, Doug Kohl, Jim Royer, Justin Royer, and Tyson Royer.

Mr. Dively died at 8:44 a.m. Thursday, August 31, in his home.

Central Illinois John R. Adelman, 80, of Springfield died Monday, September 4, 2006, in his residence. Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, in Staab Funeral Home, Springfield, with Rev. Chuck Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park, Springfield, with military rites by Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail.

Kathryn J. Greutman, 68, of Maroa died Monday, September 4, 2006, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, in Riverside Baptist Church, Decatur, with Pastor John A. Norris officiating. Burial will be in Maroa Cemetery.

Jeannette Brennan, 64, of Decatur died Sunday, September 3, 2006, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby L. Williams, 76, of Decatur died Sunday, September 3, 2006, in Decatur Memorial Hospital. Graveside services were held today, Thursday, September 7, in Salem Cemetery, South Wheatland Township. Moran & Goebel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Renee Powell-Leonard, 66, of Decatur died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Services will be held Saturday, September 9, at the Greater Northside Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial will be held at Macon County Memorial Park in Harristown. Walker Funeral Service & Chapel are in charge of arrangements.

Martha E. Stephens, 88, of Decatur died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, in Aspen Ridge Care Center. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 8, in the Argenta Baptist Church with Dr. James C. Leischner officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta.

Eileen F. Baltusevich, 79, of Springfield died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at St. John's Hospital. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, in Christ the King Catholic Church with Monsignor David S. Lantz officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Kirlin-Egan and Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William K. Coe, Jr., 78, of Springfield died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, at St. John's Hospital. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 8, in Bisch and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Michael Keppler officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Doris J. Kindred, 63, of Springfield, formerly of Beardstown, died Sunday, September 3, 2006, at her home. Cremation was accorded by Lincoln Land Cremation Society. No services are planned.

Marian C. Tranquilli, 87, of Springfield died Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at St. John's Hospice. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, in St. James Catholic Church, Riverton, with Rev. John Nolan officiating. Burial will be in Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Bisch and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Jordan Nikole Wenger, 17, of Rushville died Tuesday, September 5, 2006, in Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 10, at Free Methodist Church, Rushville, with Revs. Rob Kirkham and Rosalee Ross officiating. Interment will be in Palm Cemetery, Rushville. Wood Funeral Home, Rushville, is in charge of arrangements.
