Letter to the Editor
Over the past year I have heard a lot of discussion regarding the new Taylorville Memorial Hospital and its services. In the past four months I have had the occasion to use Taylorville medical services including 911, First Responders, Dunn’s Ambulance, Taylorville Memorial Hospital Emergency Room and admittance to the hospital twice.

Letter to the Editor
"What are they hiding" For the past 2-3 weeks I have been unsuccessful to get Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) to answer two simple questions regarding COVID-19. These questions are rather obvious, and I believe State and Federal "Leaders" would want answers as well.

Letter to the Editor
I just finished reading the Letter to the Editor published today 04/04/2021 "What happened to Taylorville being "The Friendly Town"? I am the driver that questioned the semi driver. I do not know what all was witnessed but here is my side. As I was waiting to make a turn off of Bidwell St I watched this driver make several unsuccessful attempts to turn around.

Dear Editor,

What happened to Taylorville being “The Friendly Town”? More importantly, what happened to The Golden Rule – doing to others as you would have them do to you? The reason for my questions is related to observing the abuse imposed on a truck driver who got lost either going to or from the Ahlstrom plant on E. Elm St. here in Taylorville on Tuesday. This driver, who may have never have been to our “friendly” town before yesterday was berated by a homeowner and another driver asking him what he was thinking when he turned and drove onto the city boulevard and her yard.

The proposed tax increase at the upcoming April 6th election is imperative for the successful continuation of the Christian County Jail. I have had the privilege of touring the jail with other fellow citizens and was in utter disgust with the unsafe space the officers are being forced to utilize to keep crime off of our streets. When I drove up to the facility it appeared structurally sound and in close proximity to the court house. Upon entering, there was a limited area to “Check-in” following their safety protocols. We were taken downstairs to their training space located next to the detective workroom.

I recently read comments by the candidates running for Mayor of Pana. One candidate stated that the City of Pana lacked organization and economic development .

During the last four years the Police Department, City Clerk's Office, Water Department, and Ordinance Office have helped the City in a very professional manner. Every office can improve, but to say the city of Pana is not organized, is not true.

The Liberal Minneapolis City Council just awarded the family of George Floyd $27 million. George Floyd was a life long criminal. George had been in and out of jail and/or prisons five times. Once for holding a gun to a pregnant woman while his buddies was robbing her of cash and jewels in her own home. Holding that gun to that woman’s stomach tells you all you need to know about George Floyd. Floyd in Minneapolis, Michael Brown in Ferguson and Brooks in Atlanta were all criminals and all resisted arrest. How stupid were they? Now the taxpayer gets to give the Floyd family $27 million. Why didn’t those liberals give that $27 million to the business owners who had their buildings looted and burned instead?

Michael Brown’s family got $1.5 million. They will propose a new settlement because they probably feel like they got screwed compared to the Floyd family

Dear Editor,

The only problem with St. Joe is he's got a few flaws. He's already destroyed thousands of good paying jobs by shutting down the pipeline.

I would like to reply to the resent Speak Out letter titled, "No New Jail". I believe everyone has a right to their opinion but they are not entitled to their own facts. If you don't want the new safety tax fine, you have the right to vote against it.

Open Letter to the Taylorville Township Trustees:

I was appalled after reading the Breeze Courier article reporting the January 12,2021 Taylorville Township Trustees' meeting. So let us get the facts straight.

I strongly disagree with the interpretations of Mr. Bruce Dawson submitted and published in the Thursday, February 4th edition of the Breeze-Courier. However, this is the beauty of living in a nation founded upon freedom of the press and freedom of speech.

I Am Troubled. I don't believe you can be a patriot and complicit in tyranny at the same time. Senators, intelligent men, have taken leave of themselves and turned on their Countrymen to support a flawed and dangerous leader. After the incitement of the attack on the Capitol costing five lives and the loss of our standing as the World's example of true Democracy we must act and act decisively.

Letter to the Editor
At a time when Illinois lawmakers should be supporting healthcare heroes who are working tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic, we instead receive unwelcome new legislation that will drive up the costs of practicing medicine in Illinois and send more physicians packing to move to a more welcoming state. A very bad piece of legislation sponsored by the trial lawyers of the state was recently passed in the wee hours of the morning by a lame duck Illinois legislature.

A thank you to Christian County Health Department referencing the Covid-19 Moderna First phase injections received at Christian County Mental Health Developmental Training Center on Friday, January 15 appeared in the Speak Out of the Sunday, January 17, 2021 Breeze Courier. I would like to add my thanks and my name to those grateful to have received this opportunity free of charge.

Illinois lawmakers fast tracked a contentious bill that will have a crippling effect on the residents and businesses in this state. HB3360 would force a defendant to pay prejudgment interest in a lawsuit or arbitration claim whenever monetary damages are awarded. Prejudgment interest refers to additional money courts award for interest back to the injury date. Why be alarmed?
