August 6, 1958 - February 3, 2018

Colleen Cay (Hardt) Overhaug, 59, of Taylorville, passed away at 1:52 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, Ill.

Colleen was born August 6, 1958 in Rockford, Ill., the daughter of Paul “Sam” and Audrey (Allen) Hardt.  She married Arne H. Overhaug, Jr. on June 18, 1976 in Sycamore, Ill., and they were happily married for over 41 years.

Colleen attended Kaneland High School, and graduated from DeKalb High School in 1977.  She was a homemaker while her husband served in the military, and then spent the last 11 years as a bus driver for Taylorville schools.  Colleen enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, and the “Bus Barn Gardening Club”.  She was the best wife, mother, and grandmother, and she was the family’s rock.

She was preceded in death by her father; sister, Cinda Sue Hardt; and nephews, Clifford Brazee, Houston Pineda, and Evan Peterson.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Arne H. Overhaug of Taylorville, Ill.; children:Nicole M. (husband, Glenn) Cobb of Ozark, Mo., Michelle A. Overhaug of Taylorville, Ill., Arne H. (significant other, Emily Stephens) Overhaug III of Taylorville, Ill., and Meagan S. Overhaug of Taylorville, Ill.; grandchildren: Kelly Overhaug, Takota Reed, Tyler Cobb, Drake Overhaug, Oliver Cobb, Dylan Overhaug, Amberli Cobb, Bethanie Cobb, Annabella Reed, Tommy Reed, Cameron Stephens, Kollin Stephens, Christian Stephens, Ashley (husband, David) Manry, and Tabitha (husband, Cody) Quantrell; great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Christopher, Emmalee, Emma, Charlee, Nathalee, Rowan, and Ranger; mother, Audrey Carney of DeKalb, Ill.; sisters: Linda (husband, Gary) Smith of Aurora, Ill., Angela (husband, David) Haley of Malta, Ill., Diane (husband, Steve) Hertz of Ingleside, Ill., Rita (husband, Charlie) Smith of Nashville, Tenn., and Marie Hardt of Ottawa, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home, 202 W. Franklin St., Taylorville, Ill. 62568.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Shafer-Perfetti & Assalley Funeral Home in Taylorville, with Pastor Tim Rapson officiant.

Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville, Ill.
