Howard D. Mansfield, 77, formerly of Palmer, died Saturday, September 22, 2018 at his home in rural Geary County Kansas.
Howard was born March 23, 1941 in Manor Township, Pennsylvania, the son of Thomas E. and Hazel (Wyant) Mansfield. He attended and graduated from the Ford City School District, served three years in the U.S. Army, worked for Wagner Casting Co. in Decatur, Ill. and finished his career as an industrial mechanic for Commonwealth Edison - Kincaid Station, Kincaid, Ill.
Howard married LaVonne Benninger on September 15, 1962 in Ford City, Pa. He and his wife had just moved to Junction City, Kansas in July 2018.
LaVonne survives him. Other survivors include two sons: Edmond R. Mansfield and his wife, Carol, of Morrisonville, Ill. and Christopher P. Mansfield and his wife, Gesile, of Novinger, Mo. a daughter Melissa Huddleston and her husband Edward of Manhattan, Kan., five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Thomas E. Mansfield, Lloyd W. Mansfield and Harold G. Mansfield.
The funeral service was held on September 28, 2018 with Rev. Barbara Love officiating. Burial was held following the ceremony in Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery with military honors accorded by the Armstrong County Honor Guard.
