Penny Day-Johnson, age 43, of Mattoon passed away at 10:35 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018 at her residence.
Graveside services honoring her life will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethany Cemetery, Christian County, Ill. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Schilling Funeral Home, Mattoon, Ill.
Penny was born on December 4, 1974 in Springfield, Ill. the daughter of Jack Day Sr. and Mildred (Furgerson) Craig. She married Jamie Johnson on July 4, 2016.
Survivors include her husband, Jamie Johnson; daughter, Paige Krutsinger; granddaughter, Penelope Lester; parents Jack Day Sr. and Mildred Craig; siblings, Jack (Kelley) Day, Marsha (Jerry) Hobgood, Julie (Kevin) Twiford, Rhonda (Fred) Ostermeier, Doug (Teri) Day and Justin Craig; close dear friends; special canine companion, Wink. Penny was preceded in death by her grandson, Oliver Lester.
Penny was dedicated and hardworking at all her endeavors. She was a talented woodworker, crafter and could make anything ordinary look elegant. Penny enjoyed the outdoors, camping at Turkey Run and especially riding Harleys with her husband. She was a blast to be around and enjoyed life. Penny was anxiously awaiting the arrival of her grandson this winter. Most of all, Penny loved her daughter and granddaughter and time spent with them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Penny’s husband and daughter loved her more than she could ever imagine.
