Laura E. Schneider Hile, 48 of Pana, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at home surrounded by her family. She was born July 19, 1970 in Pana to Glenn and Sherry (Beveridge) Schneider.
Laura attended Eureka College and became a nurse at Pana Community Hospital where she remained for 25+ years. She also worked part time at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur and other healthcare facilities. She never lost her love for her career choice and would not be heard complaining about having to work, as her passion for helping others made it more of a hobby than a job. She lived in Pana her entire life. It was her home and where she loved to be. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pana, Pana Women of the Moose Chapter #2112, and the Delta Zeta Sorority. It was said that Laura was an unbelievable athlete, lettering all four years of high school in basketball, track and volleyball and completing her freshman year in college with a perfect serve record. She had a way of connecting with people through her quiet yet strong, compassionate yet powerful spirit. She was a resilient woman with a heart of gold. Laura would find tranquility in taking long walks through the woods. She enjoyed fishing and had an enormous love for animals. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and her family was of the utmost importance to her, especially her grandchildren. Her presence in a room was said to light it up.
Along with her parents, Laura is survived by her daughter Bree (Shane) Coy of Pana; grandchildren: Dane P. Coy, Keira L. Coy, and Kyleigh E. Coy; brothers: Toby (Fiancé Tammy) Schneider of Pana, Thomas (Amy) Schneider of Macon; Companion Donald Rakers of Pana; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; best friends: Barbie Wheeler, Carol Wright and a host of others; and her two beloved pets Boulder and Hank. She was preceded by her grandparents Ralph and Zelma (Masters) Schneider and Thomas Scott Rollo and Opal Beveridge.
Funeral services for Laura will be held Saturday, November 3, 2018 in First United Methodist Church in Pana at 12:00 noon with Pastor Amanda Richards officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church. www.mdfh.com
