Lynda “Susie” Bailey, 76, of Pana passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Pana Community Hospital. She was born February 9, 1942 in Geneva, Ill. to the late Lynden Joseph and Mary Jane (Burdzilauskas) Cushing.
Lynda was a graduate of Pana High School, Class of 1960. She then attended Sanford College and Birmingham College and ultimately received her bachelor’s Degree in nursing. She served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Pana. Lynda worked many years as an RN at Pana Community Hospital. She enjoyed watching movies. She loved her puppy, Molly, and had a real passion for helping people.
Lynda Cushing married Phillip James Bailey on September 12, 1962. After their marriage of 18 years ended, he preceded her in death on April 20, 2008.
She is survived by her children: Andrew (Dianne) Bailey, Pana, Ill.; James (Erika) Bailey, Montrose, Colo.; April (Kyle) Hunter, Pana, Ill.; grandchildren: Joshua (Megan) Bailey, Brandon Bailey, Matthew Hunter and Amanda Hunter; great-grandchildren: Destiny Bailey and Devlin Bailey; and brother, Lyndon Joe (Veronica) Cushing, Pana, Ill. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Jean Ellen Thurman.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Ronald Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana with military rites by Pana Veterans Honor Guard. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home. www.mdfh.com
