Bruce N. Johnson, 78, of rural Elroy, Wisconsin, formerly of Taylorville, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 at his home.
He was born on November 25, 1939 to Floyd “Whitey” and Ruby (Thompson) Johnson in the town of Plymouth, Juneau County, Wisconsin. He grew up in Wilmington, Illinois and graduated from Wilmington High School.
Bruce was united in marriage to Dianne Sims on May 21, 1960 in Joliet, Illinois. They lived in Taylorville, Illinois for many years where they raised three daughters.
Bruce worked as a shift engineer manager for Commonwealth Edison – Kincaid Station for many years prior to retiring back to Wisconsin.
He was a soft spoken, humble man who had great interest in many things. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, riding motorcycles, playing euchre, reading, and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He and Dianne also loved to travel all over the world.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne; daughters: Lisa Price (William Hamell) of Taylorville, Ill. and Jennifer (Jerry) Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandchildren: Lauren (Jared) Herrmann, Ryan (Jenna) Price, Olivia and Giavanna Smith; siblings: Eileen O’Reilly, James (Donna) Johnson and Gloria (Al) Abraham and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Judith Ann Johnson.
A celebration of Bruce’s life will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 4 p..m. at The Pillars Event Center, 309 E. Market St. in Taylorville, with Rev. Tom Bellegante officiating. Friends and family are invited to attend and share stories and memories of Bruce.
