Our beloved, John Robert Jones (only child) passed away November 16, 2018 at the age of 87 due to complications from lymphoma.
Born in Clinton, Indiana 1931, he moved to Taylorville when he was two and lived there until he went into the Air Force National Guard stationed in U.S. during Korean conflict.
His father, uncles, grandfather and other family members worked in coal industry and some kin still live there but dwindling. His parents, Claude James Jones and Wilhimina (Koester) Jones, died in 1976.
John used the GI bill and graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1957 with a business degree. He married Kathryn Eleanor Evans from Decatur in 1956.
He ended up in Fairfax, Va. working for the federal government, Dept. of Agriculture and Justice, Systems Analyst, and retired in 1992 after 30 years.
John loved to travel, sports, bowling, extensive genealogy work. He was also a lifetime Elk member. He was exposed to computers since the early days.
He leaves behind four children and his wife whom he loved dearly. John will be buried in Fairfax City Cemetery, Virginia, on Saturday Nov., 24, 2018. You may reach his son Bruce Jones at email@example.com. God Bless!
