Marcia L. (Cook) Shelite, 67, of Pana passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 in Heritage Health—Pana. She was born January 13, 1951 in Taylorville to the late Chester Leroy and Elva Anita (Brookens) Cook.
Marcia was raised in Taylorville and lived her adult life in Pana, attending the Pana Christian Church and was an honorary member of the Pana Eagles. She was a homemaker and loved drawing, gardening, camping, fishing, arts, crafts and cats.
Marcia married Alva Miller and they later divorced. She then married Elvin Lee Shelite on June 19, 1992 in Pana. He preceded her in death on February 12, 2001.
She is survived by her children: Tony Miller (Tracy), Pana, Ill. and Tonya Claxon (Mike Barnes), Pana, Ill.; step children: Mark (Michele) Shelite, Pana, Ill. and Laura (Ron) Havrilka, Pana, Ill.; grandchildren: Emily (Ethan) Simmons, Blake Miller, Kyle Miller, Jacob Claxon, Colton Claxon, Garrett Claxon; siblings: Larry Cook, Sr., Belleville, Ill. and Rosetta (Jack) Neal, Sun City West, Ariz.; and special friend/sister: Sylvia (Larry) Kemner, Taylorville, Ill. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers: Leroy Cook, Stanley Cook, Robert “Bob” Cook and sisters: Mary Liz Murray, Minnie Griffin, Janice Beck, Judy Zeitler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Altman officiating. Burial will be in Mound Chapel Cemetery, rural Owaneco. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home. www.mdfh.com
