Joe Pete Lush, 90 of Morrisonville, passed away at 6:22 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2019 at Heritage Health Therapy & Senior Care in Pana, Illinois.

He was born on Easter Sunday, March 31, 1929, in Stonington, the son of Martin Washington and Anna Florence (Oliver) Lush. He married Marcella E. Herkert on October 24, 1953 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville. She preceded him in death on September 11, 2015.

He was a member of St. Maurice Catholic Church in Morrisonville and the Knights of Columbus.

Joe was a skilled mechanic and welder who could fix anything and fabricated countless projects from metal during his life. He could always be found with his pipe and loved bowling, square dancing with Marcella, and listening to country music.

During his time in the service he had a hobby of taking and developing photographs. He had a love for camping and traveling with his family to all parts of the country. Joe was a fan of both NASCAR and Indy car racing and a die-hard ford enthusiast.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings: Erma Horrell, Martin Leo Lush, Norma Herkert, and Linda Lou Lush.

A funeral mass for Joe will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taylorville with Monsignor David Lantz officiating. Burial with military honors will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Visitation will take place from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday at McClure Funeral Home in Taylorville.
