Donald Clifford McMahon, 85, formerly of Taylorville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 22, 2019, at his home in Southern Pines, N.C.
He was born on June 15, 1934, in Pana, Ill., to Anna Coffman and Lawrence McMahon.
Don married Genevieve Greear in 1952. They had three sons: Timothy McMahon, Steven McMahon, and Rodney McMahon. After Genevieve’s passing, he later married Barbara Koepp in 1990.
Don worked for Caterpillar, Inc. in Decatur, Ill. for 35 years, retiring in 1990. In his retirement, he served as a bus driver for the Taylorville School District and as a Wal-Mart greeter. He then spent more than 10 years enjoying life in Donna, Texas, before relocating to Southern Pines, N.C., in 2016.
Don is survived by his wife Barbara; sons: Steven McMahon (Cheryl) and Rodney McMahon (Vicki) of Taylorville, Ill.; stepchildren: Rebecca Miller (Jim) of Huntsville, Ala., and Peter Koepp (Stacey) of Pinehurst, N.C.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Genevieve; his son Timothy; and his eight siblings, brothers: Alva McMahon, Lawrence McMahon, Benton McMahon, Vesper McMahon, and Charles McMahon and sisters: Effie Stanberry, Lois Rhodes, and Edna Landin.
