Caroline V. Hughes, known to many as "Nana", age 73, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on the evening of July, 20 2019 at 10:20 pm. She was born on March, 18 1946 in St. Paul, Minnesota. Caroline was diagnosed with ALS in May of 2019. This disease may have caused the end of her life, but it is certainly not how she will be remembered. Caroline was a beam of love in both of her communities of Taylorville, Ill., and Buford, Ga. She never greeted anyone with anything less than her joyful smile. Her passions included baking, cooking, collecting cherished teddies, watching Disney movies with her grandchildren, decorating, and most of all, spending time with those she loved. She made a house, a home, not only for her family, but for others through her time selling furniture at Shaw Furniture and selling Pampered Chef. Many will remember her smile and laughter because she shared those things freely and openly with anyone she met. She was preceded in death by her parents Dr. Thomas and Virginia Butler, brother Bob Butler, and her son Brad Rodden. Caroline is survived by her husband, Bill Hughes, brother Bill (Mary Lou) Butler, daughter Cammie (Doug) Richards, her two boys Randy (Terri) Rodden and Kenny (Pam) Rodden, as well as 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of life held at a later date in Taylorville, Ill.
