Carolyn F. Berndt, 89, of Quincy, Illinois, died Sunday, August 4, 2019, at 12:31 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.
Carolyn was born March 14, 1930 in Quincy, a daughter of Albert Carl and Wilhemena Minnie Bastert Hagerbaumer. She married Herbert Berndt on November 17, 1951 in Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2001.
She is survived by two daughters: Christine Alger of Quincy, Illinois, and Denise (David) Orr of Goose Creek, South Carolina; a sister, Aleen (Virgil) Mittelberg of Quincy; four grandchildren: Matt (fiancee, Hillary) Alger of Quincy; Melissa (Matthew) Casady of Quincy; Emily (Cory) Hunsley of Edinburg, Illinois; and Ellery Orr of Davenport, Iowa; six great-grandchildren: Amadeus and Gracelyn Alger; Grant Casady; and Ruby, Demry, and Parke Hunsley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law, Rick Alger.
Funeral services were held on August 8, 2019 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of the arrangements..
