Mr. Steve “Tanky” Merano, 62, of Kincaid, IL passed from this life at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at his home in Kincaid, Ill.
He was born in Taylorville, IL the son of Frank and Norma (Painter) Merano. Steve married Gina Cappellin on July 7, 1990 in Kincaid, Ill.
Mr. Merano enjoyed Golfing and Bocce Ball and was one of the original founders of the Kincaid Bocce Club. He was a former Coal Miner first at Coffeen and later at Mine #10 near Pawnee. Steve was a member of the K of C council 4446 in Kincaid, IL. He retired as an Officer with the Illinois Department of Corrections May 23, 2015. His greatest joy was attending his children’s sporting events along with spending time with family and friends, who meant the world to him.
Surviving are his wife Gina Merano of Kincaid, Ill., a son Vincent Merano of Kincaid, Ill., two daughters: Madison Merano of Pawnee, Ill. and Lauren Merano of Girard, Ill., a brother Scott Merano of Litchfield, Ill. and a sister Diana (husband Charles) Whitfield of Florida and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 7, 2019 at Masterson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Kincaid, IL. Pastor Steve Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery Pawnee, IL. Visitation for Mr. Steve “Tanky” Merano will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 6th at Masterson’s in Kincaid.
