Margaret P. Gannaway, 89, of Taylorville passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital.
She was born October 22, 1930 in Monroe, La., daughter of the late Uriah W. and Emalee (Gruber) Pickens. Margaret married Donald L. Gannaway on June 6, 1953 in Monroe, La. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2006.
She was of the Southern Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and had also taught high school and junior college business classes. Margaret volunteered at the Dana Thomas House in Springfield. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, writing and was always learning new things. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children.
Margaret was survived by her children: Donna (Carl) Reynolds, Irving, Ill.; Doug (Sandy) Gannaway, St. Charles, Mo.; Edward Gannaway, Raymond, Ill.; Lisa (Greg) Grover, Stonington, Ill.; Eric (Lisa) Gannaway, Plainfield, Ind.; five grandchildren: Nick Gannaway, Samantha (Michael) Shannon, C.J. Gannaway, Jenna Gannaway, Caleb Grover, numerous step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by siblings: Uriah W. Pickens, Jr. and Thelma Arthur.
