Gary Dale Dooley, 74, of Vandalia, Illinois, left this earth and gained his wings on Sunday, February 23, 2020, in Vandalia, Ill.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Memorial Presbyterian Church, Assumption, Ill., with Pastor Harry Kirk, officiating. Friends and family will gather at the church at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, Ill.

He was born January 23, 1946, in Taylorville, Ill., the son of Orville Lawrence and Mabel Lucille Blakeman Dooley. Married Diana Dee Barbara (Castle) on March 24, 1980, in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a retired Officer from the Illinois Department of Corrections, Vandalia, Ill.; US Army Vietnam Veteran; Member of VFW Post 3862, American Legion Post #95, Vandalia Moose Lodge #1447, and The Vandalia Country Club, all of Vandalia, Ill.
Gary was an avid sports fan; he loved playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by: wife - Diana Dooley, Vandalia, Ill.; sons: Tom Dooley and Jackie, Assumption, Ill. and Tim Dooley and April, Vero Beach, Fla.; daughters: Tracy London and Doug, Mt. Zion, Ill. and Toni Friedrich and Kirk, Taylorville, Ill.; nine grandchildren: Ty Dooley and Fiancé Kylie, Ryan and Grace Dooley, Patty Platt and Roger, Amanda, Jacob and Drew London, and Blake and Bryce Friedrich; four great-grandchildren: Hazel and Rhys Platt, Lilyan Schloz, and Brooks Flannery; brothers: Larry Dooley, Taylorville, Ill. and Roger Dooley and Donna, Baldwinsville, N.Y.; and sister Kay Lynn Gano, Colorado Springs, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Patsy Beamer.
