Virginia M. Kuhn

Virginia M. Kuhn, 101, of Oconee passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2020 in Pana Community Hospital. She was born May 4, 1918 in rural Dollville to the late John Henry and Nellie Louise (Beyers) Klein. Virginia married Robert Charles Kuhn on December 30, 1941 in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Pana. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2015.    

Virginia worked at Penwell’s, as a receptionist for Dr. Eberspacher and then for CIPS before her marriage. She was as a homemaker on the family dairy farm throughout her 73-year marriage to Robert. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee. Virginia and Robert were well known for their kettle corn stand at the Oconee Fall Festival. For over 20 years, she and Robert also made trips to Appalachia with clothing and supplies for the less fortunate. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting and bird watching.

Virginia is survived by her children: Joyce (Eugene) Knodle, Fillmore, Ill.; Robert L. Kuhn, Oconee, Ill.; Regina (Roger) Landon, Chandlerville, Ill.; Kenneth (Rhonda) Kuhn, Olney, Ill.; Karen (David) Koons, Tower Hill, Ill.; Randy (Mary) Kuhn, West End, NC; daughter-in-law, Kellie Kuhn, Oconee, Ill.; son-in-law, James Wetherell, Springfield, Ill.; 29 grandchildren; 63 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Donna Klein, Pana, Ill. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons: Joseph Kuhn and Kevin Kuhn; daughter, Carole Wetherell; daughter-in-law, Gloria Kuhn; siblings: Irene Wolf, John Klein, Dorothy Mickey, Kenneth Klein & LaVeta Becker.

Funeral mass for Virginia will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in Sacred Heart Church, Oconee at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee.  Visitation will be held Monday, March 16, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home and Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until service time in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee.
