Phyllis Marie Hebert, 86 of Taylorville passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2020 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. She was born April 20, 1933 on the farm near Assumption, Illinois to the late Phillip and Flossie (Edwards) Hebert.
Phyllis grew up on the farm and attended school at St. Mary’s Catholic School, Assumption. She then attended Sacred Heart Academy Springfield. After graduating high school, she then went on to get her nursing degree as an L.P.N. at Springfield School of Practical Nursing. Phyllis worked in Lincoln as a nurse from June 1956 to January 1986, later moving to Texas to work as a nurse before returning to Illinois. She worked at Sacred Heart Covent in the Mother House as a nurse, where she retired. Phyllis made her home in Taylorville, Illinois. She enjoyed the company of family and friends. She made rosaries out of Jobes tears grown by her and some of her family. She had a passion for taking pictures of nature. Phyllis had a deep faith in God and the gifts of His love for her.
Phyllis is survived by her sister, Mary Lou Smith, Mt. Carmel, Ill.; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was proceeded in death by her sister, Eleanor Dorr; brothers, Theodore “Ted” Hebert, Louis “Leon” Hebert, Laurence “Lucky” Hebert, and Noel Hebert.
Due to Illinois Department of Health guidelines, there will be a private family graveside service for Phyllis with burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Assumption.
