Mr. Robert James Bergmann, Jr. 67 of Edinburg, formerly of Tovey, Ill. and St. Louis passed from this life at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at home in rural Edinburg.
He was born in St. Louis, Mo. on September 9, 1952 the son of Robert James and Patricia Bergmann, Sr. He married Deborah (Suerig) Coghlan in Kincaid, Ill. in 2010.
Mr. Bergmann honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Viet-Nam War. He worked as a truck driver, most recently at Good Will Industries.
Surviving are his wife Deborah of Edinburg, Ill., six sons: Larry Coghlan of Taylorville, Ill., John Coghlan and companion Sherry Holmes of Taylorville, Ill., George and his wife Tina Coghlan of Edinburg, Ill., James Coghlan of Taylorville, Robert James Bergman III and Eric Bergmann, both of St. Louis; a daughter, Sonya Gerber of Wentzville, Mo. and a sister Linda Law of Festus, Mo.; along with 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-dad, and two brothers: Mike and Terry.
Graveside services were held at 12 noon, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Camp Butler National Cemetery. Full military honors with salute by the Taylorville V.F.W. combined with the Taylorville American Legion and an active duty contingent from the United States Army were held at 11 a.m. Thursday outside of Masterson Funeral Home in Kincaid. www.mastersonfh.com
