It is with deep sorrow to announce that on July 24, 2020, at the age of 89, Doris Marie Rath passed away. Doris would have wanted us all to know that her work here is done. Our energizer bunny has accepted an invitation to reunite with long awaiting family and friends in a place where music, laughter, and love are guaranteed.
Doris and her husband Leonard moved from Illinois to southern California after they retired and settled years later in Phoenix, Ariz. Her husband Leonard passed in 2005. Doris was a special person that attracted many close friends. She loved visiting with her family, friends, and Canadians, which always included a game of Dominos or Rummikubs. Doris enjoyed making everyone around her feel loved, cooking for large family gatherings, singing “You Are My Sunshine”, and humming and tapping her foot to a good tune. She loved her family every day and brought so much joy to everyone she met.
Doris was cherished by all who knew her. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Rhea Requarth and her siblings Evelyn Bursch, Larry Requarth, Marion Freeman, Eldon Requarth, and Carolyn Thomas. She is survived by her four daughters, Kathy Moore in Tennessee, Patti Swinford (Troy) in Decatur, Lisa Maurer in Tinley Park, and Sally Walden (Ross) in California; her 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and her siblings Emma Thomas in Edinburg, Charlie Requarth (Donna) in Taylorville, David Requarth (Margaret) in Edinburg, and Margaret Moody in Kentucky.
